(65) How can I deal with what happened in my previous relationship?

(

CHLOE: How does one move on when they find it difficult to deal with what happened in the previous relationship?

.

I mean it’s hard to move on when you are fuming inside. I know that “sometimes strength is not seen in the ability to hold on, but in the ability to let go.”

.

But I’m failing to let go, does it mean I haven’t found that strength yet?

Hi Chloe! 🙂 It doesn’t mean you haven’t found the strength; it means you are exhausting your strength on wrong reasons.

Your words “finding it difficult to deal with what happened” shows that you are using your strength to deal with what happened instead of using it to let go of what happened.

The truth is you can’t change the past. The past will never die. But if you want the future, you must stop focusing on the past.

Even if you meet another man who claims to love you, if he really wants a future with you, he must forget your past.

The same strength you are exhausting trying to change the past is the same strength you were given to let go of it. From now onwards use your strength to tell yourself:

“I don’t care anymore about what happened. I am letting it all go. I’m not even going to try solving anything no-matter how much or how little I lost.

I’m not just flipping over a new page, instead I’m burning this whole book and starting my life in a new book altogether. I’ve cried enough.

I’m not even going to cry about it anymore… I have decided that IT’S NOT WORTH MY TEARS!”

Maybe you are saying “Sir Moffat, should I accept what has happened and soldier on?”

I say “Yes dearest!”

It doesn’t matter how big your past is, it can’t be more important than your future. If you lost what you never thought you could lose, it shows you could still find what you never thought you could find.

Move on!

You only get better by going forward.

Letting go may make you think you have lost. Yet in actual fact you have found something more important than anything you ever lost – you would have found yourself again!
