Today many relationships are starting online (Facebook, WhatsApp and Dating sites).
The internet has come to stay, and it is changing not just the way we do business or do school, but also the way we fall in love.
The only difference between internet messaging and the love letters grandpa and grandma sent each other when they were still falling in love, is speed.
For that reason, there is absolutely nothing wrong with online dating. However, just like any other form of dating it needs caution.
Sometimes people who are very quiet in real life get very talkative and active online.
Also remember everybody posts their smiles and laughter on social networks, very few post their moments of sadness or anger.
There is more to every person than what you find on their Facebook wall.
Sometimes we post what we wish we had as though we already have it. What you think is my car could be my Uncle’s. And you may think a guy has a big house when he took photos the day he passed by a lodge.
These people where not really lying, they were just posting the people they wish to be rather than they really are.
However, studies show that people are more truthful and sincere when texting than when speaking face to face or voice calling.
People are less likely to lie when texting than calling.
This is because we all know a text lives forever, therefore it can come back to haunt you. And the other thing is it’s easier to be your true self when no-one is watching.
That means online dating has its own advantages and disadvantages.
After two months or so of interacting online – try to meet face to face just to balance the expectations that you now have about each other.
On Interracial Dating I have explained more in Chapter 5 when I answered the question:
Is it possible to marry a person from another race or culture?
Interracial relationships have their own challenges but they have the possibility of being successful just like any other relationships.
